The product contains one or more identical lamp modules, which can be installed separately or in various combinations on the wall or in the ceiling. The design makes it possible to create different kinds of graphic light installations. The position of the module and the adjustment of the light will affect the notion of the room and the relation between surface and depth as the light will create or limit the room within the room.
The intention with Niche is to challenge the field between commercial design, art installation and architecture. By using architectural concepts an interaction between and object and room is created. The idea is to facet the notion of the room rather than highlighting the object itself. The viewer’s movement in front of the object is an essential element. The design has to be considered from several angles and will change with movement – is it the object in the room or the room in the object, which is staged?

REFORM is interpretation, an image of contemporary time, a cross field of creative institutions and professional skills, a meeting between the abstract and the specific. It is the process as well as the final product.
REFORM asks questions, but does not necessarily find the answers.
The design, expression and choice of material in Johansen Faurschou’s design are based on the principle of optimal function and transparency. Every single detail is analysed, debated and recon- sidered through several hours of dialogue at the studio and in the workshop. Experimental 1:1 studies make room for investigating, testing and minimalizing the design until there is only the essential shape and function left.
Johansen Faurschou is Anita Johansen and Laura Faurschou, who are both educated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design. The duo works with furniture and product design and has created several commercial products and participated in a number of exhibitions.
